Runlines is made by one person, Jay Alcalde, and this email goes straight to the developer. If your audition is tomorrow and something is broken, say so in the subject line and it gets read first.
Replies go out within one business day, usually the same day. For a bug, include your iPhone model, iOS version, and what you tapped just before it happened. If a script imports wrong, paste the first ten lines of it into the email.
Importing scripts and sides
My PDF says "No text found in that PDF"
The PDF is a scan: a picture of the page with no text inside it. Runlines reads the text out of a PDF on your iPhone and does not do OCR. Copy the text from the email or document it came from, or open the PDF in the Files app, select the text, and paste it into Add a script. If you cannot select any text in the PDF, it is a scan.
The characters came out wrong after I pasted the scene
Runlines understands two layouts: NAME: line on one line, or the character name on its own line with the speech underneath. Stage directions in parentheses and blank lines are fine. If your sides use another layout, tidy the first few names into one of those two and paste again. For a monologue or speech with no other characters, turn on No character names (monologue or speech).
The partner voice
I hear nothing when the other parts should be read
Turn the volume up with the side buttons; Runlines plays even when the ring switch is on silent. Check that Bluetooth headphones are not connected somewhere else. On a monologue or speech there are no other parts, so nothing is read aloud on purpose and the scene waits at each of your paragraphs.
The voice sounds robotic. Can I get a better one?
Runlines reads with the voices installed on your iPhone. Download better ones in iPhone Settings, Accessibility, Spoken Content, Voices, English, and pick one marked Enhanced or Premium. Then choose it in Runlines under Settings, Partner voice. With Runlines Pro each character can get a different voice from the script screen.
Record mode will not record
Record mode needs the microphone. If you tapped Don't Allow the first time, turn it back on in iPhone Settings, Runlines, Microphone. Recordings stay on your phone; deleting a script deletes its recordings.
Subscriptions
I paid for Runlines Pro and the app still shows locks
Open Runlines, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases (it is also on the subscription screen). The app asks Apple for your current subscription and removes the locks if one is active. The iPhone must be signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If it still shows locks, check iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions: if Runlines is not listed, the purchase did not go through and you were not charged.
How do I cancel Runlines Pro or the free trial?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Runlines, then Cancel Subscription. Do it at least 24 hours before the trial or the current period ends to avoid the next charge. You keep Runlines Pro until the end of the time already paid for, or until the trial ends. Deleting the app does not cancel.
Will I be charged during the 7-day free trial?
No. The yearly plan's trial costs nothing for 7 days. If you have not cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends, your Apple Account is charged $39.99 for the year. The monthly plan ($7.99) has no trial and is charged when you confirm.
Can I get a refund?
Apple takes the payment, so Apple handles refunds. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the Runlines charge, and pick a reason. We cannot refund directly because the payment never reaches us.
I ran out of free runs this month
The free tier includes five runs a month, and they come back on the 1st. Running the built-in sample scene during onboarding did not use any of them. Runlines Pro removes the limit.
Your data
I got a new iPhone. Where are my scripts?
Scripts, recordings, and progress live on the phone, so they move with your iPhone backup. Restore the new phone from an iCloud or computer backup of the old one and they are there. If you set it up as new, they stay on the old phone. Your subscription follows your Apple Account: tap Restore Purchases.
How do I delete my data?
Delete a script from its screen to remove it and its recordings, or delete the app to remove everything. To have the anonymous purchase record deleted from RevenueCat, email us; the Privacy Policy explains what to include.
Does Runlines work in airplane mode?
Yes. Importing, Run mode, Record mode, and Progress all work offline. A connection is needed only to buy or restore a subscription.
