Runlines pricing: what is free and what Runlines Pro costs
Runlines is free to download and the free version does real work every month. Runlines Pro is an optional subscription for people running lines every day: $7.99 a month, or $39.99 a year with a 7-day free trial. All prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows your local price before you confirm.
Three ways to use Runlines
Free
$0
- 5 runs a month, back on the 1st
- The other parts read aloud, your lines covered
- One script of your own, plus the sample scene
- Scripts up to 40 lines in full; longer ones run their first 40
- Off book, learning, and shaky marks on every line
- A plan to your date
- No account
Runlines Pro Yearly
$39.99/year
7 days free, then $39.99 a year. About $3.33 a month, 58% less than twelve months of the monthly plan ($95.88).
Cancel at least 24 hours before day 7 ends and you are not charged.
Runlines Pro Monthly
$7.99/month
Charged when you confirm, then every month. No free trial.
Useful for a single show: subscribe for the rehearsal period, cancel after closing night.
What Runlines Pro adds
- Unlimited runs and unlimited scripts, of any length
- Record mode: play the scene back with your own voice in your spots
- Cue-only runs: just the last three words before each of your lines
- Reveal word by word, so a peek costs one word instead of the whole line
- A different voice for each character
- Speech rate and pause between lines
- Mastery percentage per script and a dated run history
- A daily rehearsal reminder at the time you choose
Pro does not change how a run works or what the free version keeps. Your scripts, marks, and recordings stay yours if you cancel.
How the free trial and renewal work
Runlines Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple. Payment goes to your Apple Account.
- Yearly: the 7-day free trial is for the yearly plan only and is available once per Apple Account. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, $39.99 is charged when it ends and the plan renews every year at that price.
- Monthly: $7.99 is charged when you confirm, and again every month.
- Renewal: either plan renews automatically at the same price and length unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Unused trial: any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription, for example if you switch to monthly during the trial.
How to cancel
On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap Runlines, then tap Cancel Subscription. Do it at least 24 hours before the trial or the current period ends. You keep Runlines Pro until the end of the time already paid for, or until the trial ends. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Refunds, restoring, and Family Sharing
- Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. The payment never reaches us, so we cannot refund it directly.
- Restore Purchases is in the app's Settings and on the Runlines Pro screen. Use it on a new iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Family Sharing is not turned on for Runlines Pro. Each Apple Account subscribes on its own.
When the Runlines Pro screen appears
Only when you ask for something that is part of Pro: a feature with a lock badge, a button on a blurred preview, the Runlines Pro row in Settings, or a sixth run in the same month. It never appears when you open the app, never during the first-launch questions, and never on a timer. Close it with the X and you are back in the free version.
Is the free version enough?
For one short piece with plenty of notice, often yes. If your sides are 40 lines or fewer (a line here is one speech, by any character), five runs spread over a week, with the cover-and-say work from our memorization guide in between, can get you there. If the audition is this week, the app's own plan asks for three runs a day, and five runs last under two days at that pace. That is when the yearly plan's 7-day trial earns its keep: unlimited runs for the week, and nothing to pay if you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
