See which of your lines are off book, learning, or shaky

Every time you run a scene, Runlines updates a mark on each of your lines. You stop rerunning the lines you already know and spend the evening on the ones that keep slipping. The marks and the counts are free; the mastery percentage and run history come with Runlines Pro.

What each mark means

  • Off bookYou have said the line without a peek at least twice, and the latest run was clean.
  • LearningThe latest run was clean, but you have not said it cleanly twice yet.
  • ShakyYou peeked on the latest run. One peek turns an off book line back to shaky until you say it cleanly again.
  • UntriedNo run has reached this line yet.

"Without a peek" means you tapped Got it without tapping Reveal first. The app shows a short version of this legend on the script screen: "Off book: clean twice in a row. Learning: clean once. Shaky: you peeked last run."

Where you see it

Free

  • On the script page: a count such as "24 of your lines: 9 off book, 10 learning, 5 shaky", and a colored mark beside each of your lines.
  • At the end of every run: "5 of 6 lines without a peek."
  • On the Scripts list: the off book, learning, and shaky counts for each script, and today's runs against your plan.
  • On the Progress tab: your next rehearsal (for example "Today's runs are done. 14 days to go.") and this month's runs with how many lines came out clean.

Runlines Pro

  • Mastery per script: the share of your lines that are off book, with the off book, learning, shaky, and untried counts under it.
  • History: every run with its date, time, script, and how many lines were clean.
  • Daily rehearsal reminder: one notification a day at the time you choose. Your iPhone schedules it; no server sends it.

In the free version, the mastery and history panel is shown blurred with the title "See which lines are still shaky" and a button to the Runlines Pro screen. Your marks are still on every script page; nothing you earned is hidden there.

Where the plan comes from

On first launch, Runlines asks "When is it?" and builds a plan from the answer:

Your answerRuns a dayOver
This week35 days
In about two weeks214 days
In about a month130 days
No date yet1until it sticks

Each run is planned at 10 minutes, or 5 if you said you usually cram the night before. The Scripts list shows today's runs against the plan and the Progress tab counts down the days. For a day-by-day version you can print, try the off-book planner.

What the marks are not

The marks are a record of your own taps, not a test. Runlines does not hear you, so if you paraphrase a line and tap Got it, it counts as clean. The marks are most useful when you are strict: tap Reveal the moment you are guessing, and the shaky list will tell you the truth the night before.
